1. When will I know if I have been selected to play in a tournament?
3-4 days after the closing date for accepting entries, the Play List is selected. At that time an acceptance letter is mailed to everyone accepted to play, along with those selected to the Waiting List. A Play List is also posted on the website. If you are not selected to play, WSCGA returns your check along with a letter of explanation.
2. What does Random Draw mean?
Everyone who enters a tournament during the appropriate entry time has an equal chance of being selected to play. A computerized random draw selects the Playing List of 120 players from all entries. Another 20 players are selected to be on a Waiting List.
3. Are the tournaments only for low handicap players?
No, WSCGA has two types of tournaments. For Major tournaments the lowest handicap applicants are generally accepted. Association Day events are open to all handicap levels. Currently, there are 6 Major tournaments a year and 11 Association Day tournaments.
4. If I enter a tournament with a partner and she can't play, can I substitute someone else in her place?
Yes, you can make a substitution for a partner up until 4:00 pm on the Friday before the tournament. The new partner should have a handicap as close as possible to that of the original partner. Should the handicaps between partners be greater than 8 strokes, the higher handicap player must play down. (This is a NEW Tournament Policy instituted by the WSCGA Tournament Committee for 2006.
The 8-stroke spread between partners on entry is no longer valid).
If your partner cancels after 4:00 pm on the Friday before the event, you will need to withdraw from the tournament, and a team from the Waiting List will be moved to the Playing List.
5. I need to cancel out of a tournament. What should I do?
As soon as possible, call the WSCGA office at 909-592-1281 and leave a message on extension 310. This cancellation line is avaiable 24/7.
6. Do I get a refund if I cancel?
If you cancel before the Playing List has been selected your check will be returned, or, in the event that you registered online, the full tournament fee will be refunded to your credit card. If the Playing List has been selected but you cancel before the no refund date, your entry fee ($20 for one day tournaments, $40 for two day tournaments) is non-refundable, but you will receive a refund of the remainder of the tournament fee. For cancellations after the published no refund date, there is no refund of any portion of the tournament fee.
