1. I am the Team Captain and need to edit my roster online. What do I do?
Team Captains will need to establish a new password for their club each year. Passwords are "wiped out" of the system as each new team play season begins. To establish a password, go to the Team page on the WSCGA website and click on the bullet that says "Team Captain Create Password". A screen requiring a User Name and Password will appear. WSCGA will provide the User Name and Password to all Div I and Div II Team Captains. (For Desert Teams, the User Name and Password will be provided to the WDTP and CDL Coordinators). Once the User Name and Password have been entered, click on OK, then on Create Team Login. Locate your Club Number using the arrow on the drop-down box and create your own unique password. You are asked to enter it twice for verification. Click OK and a message will appear to say you're "DONE". Once a new password is created, the Team Captain Create Password screen will not be used again during the team season. From this point forward, Team Captains will be going into the Team Information Entry/Edit Screen, where the User Name will be their club number (i.e. AB32) and the Password is the one created in the Team Captain Create Password screen. (NOTE: all sign-in screens on the WSCGA website are case-sensitive, meaning "ABr54Z" must be typed exactly as shown...not "abr54z").
2. I can't access my roster online. What's wrong?
All roster changes and additions are done on the Team Information Entry and Edit screen. Make sure you are using the correct User Name and Password, and that they've been entered in the appropriate case. The User Name on the Team Information Entry/Edit screen is always the club number (in capital letters) and the Password is the one created in the Team Captain Create Password screen (in the appropriate case). Note that the website will be closed to further changes after the posted cut-off date.
If the problem persists or if you have forgotten your password, call the Team Desk at the WSCGA office (909-592-1281 extension 201).
3. How are the playing indices calculated for Team Play?
City Team indices are calculated using 12 months from May 1st of the previous year to April 1st of the current year. There is no rounding, meaning 6.47 becomes 6.4.
WDTP and CDL use current indices.
Both Div II Desert and Southern Team Play members play to a 12-month average index. For Div II Desert the indices are calculated using the 12 months from December 1st of the previous year to November 1st of the current year. For Div II Southern teams the indices are calculated using the 12 months from April 1st of the previous year to March 1st of the current year.
4. Do we send the Team Away Sheets to the WSCGA Office for posting?
No for City Team. Team Captains are responsible for getting the Away Sheets to the Handicap Chairman of the host club for posting. See page 9 in the City Team Manual.
Div II and Desert Teams can ask the Pro at their club to post scores or send the Posting Sheets to the WSCGA office.
5. Are Team scores posted as "T" scores?
No. Reference the City Team Manual for City teams or the Div II Team Manual for Desert and Southern teams.
6. Our course has a hole that will be closed to play during a portion of Team Play. What do we do?
Provided that the closure is temporary and doesn't involve more than one hole, points are halved on a hole that is closed to play. Handicap stroke holes are adjusted and re-allocated for the "nine" involved, and the closed hole will have a handicap stroke allocation of either #17 or #18, depending on the "nine" affected.
If more than one hole is closed, the match must be rescheduled.
If the course is undergoing major construction, the WSCGA Team Director and one other WSCGA Director, accompanied by the Team Captain, will determine the club's eligibility to play team.
For Desert Team, please reference the WDTP and CDL Team Play Manuals respectively.
7. For City Team we only have 12 players to play a scheduled match. What do we do?
A team must play seven sides and cannot forfeit a side. If a team only has 12 players, two sides must play short. If a side plays short, it may be any of the seven sides.
A City team that plays a match with fewer than 14 players on more than one occasion no longer jeopardizes its eligibility for Team Play the following year. This was a new decision by the WSCGA Committee in 2008.
For Div II and Desert Teams, please reference the Div II, WDTP and CDL Team Play Manuals respectively.
8. I am the Team Captain and have an alternate with a lower playing index than someone on the line-up. Is it required that I play the alternate over the player with the higher index?
No. The Team Captain has total discretion in choosing her line-up.
Keep in mind, though, that should it become necessary for an alternate to be put into the line-up, the substitution must occur prior to teeing off on the first hole, and the alternate must be placed in handicap order in the line-up.
For Desert Team, please reference the WDTP and CDL Team Play Manuals respectively. Div II does not utilize alternates.
