By: Mary Pollock, President The USGA has retreated from its May statement suggesting the allowance of drivers with a COR (coefficient of restitution) of 0.860 beginning January 1, 2003. However, the USGA has decided not to adopt its tentative proposal of allowing use of the 0.860 COR drivers through 2008 except by “highly skilled players.” Conforming drivers must not exceed the current 0.830 COR. A list of non-conforming drivers can be found at www.usga.org. Drivers used by players in WAGA events must comply with USGA equipment standards.
