For the second time, Joan Higgins is a USGA champion. The Glendora, California native, who had previously won the 2008 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur title, defeated Judith Kyrinis, 1 up, on Thursday at Hollywood G.C. in Deal, N.J. Congratulations Joan!

Women's Golf Council Tournament
The Women's Golf Council will hold its final event of the season on Saturday, September 27 at Talega Golf Club (San Clemente). The format is Better Ball of Partners
and the tournament is open to any female golfer with a verifiable USGA Handicap Index.

The 2014 Masters Championship
The Women's Golf Council of Southern Calfifornia will be sponsoring the 2014 Masters Championship on October 6-7 at Rio Hondo Golf Club (Downey). This year's event will be conducted by the Women's Public Links of Southern California Golf Association,

Mark Your Calendars for the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship
The 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be held on May 9-13, 2015 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon. See the flyer for details. 18-hole Four-Ball qualifying rounds will be held nationwide with two scheduled for Southern California,
the first on September 15, 2014 at Mission Hills Country Club (the Dinah Shore Tournament Course) and the second on January 7, 2015 at La Costa Resort (The Legends, formerly the South, Course). Tournament entry is now closed.
USGA and Chevron Announce STEM Scholarship Program
The USGA and Chevron announced a new scholarship program for qualified high school seniors who are pursuing college careers in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering or math).
